To the Revd the Minister of Farway

Chanter 232A, 207

  1. Residence, curate and lecturer: I personally reside upon my Cure & live in my Parsonage house.

  2. Other benefices: I have only one Benefice.

  3. Divine service at other churches: I perform Divine Service at my own Church only.

  4. Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is performed & a Sermon preached, twice every Sunday.

  5. Frequency of communion: The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is administered four times in a year. The number of Communicants I believe, is about Thirty.

  6. Catechising of children: The Youth of the Parish are usually catechised the greatest part of the Summer, on Sundays in the Afternoon.

  7. Church fabric: The Church & Chancel are in good repair. The Church yard is <in general> well kept; but at present the Gates & Bars are somewhat out of repair; but it has been resolved upon by the Parishioners to supply their places soon with new ones.

  8. Glebe terrier: I have a Terrier of the Glebe Lands, houses &c.

  9. Number of families: I believe the Number of Families in the Parish is between fifty & Sixty.

  10. Chapels: There is no Chapel within the Parish.

  11. Papists, dissenters and meeting houses: There is neither a reputed Papist, a Meeting house, nor a Dissenter of any Denomination in the Parish.

  12. School, alms-houses, hospital and charitable endowments: There is no Publick School, but there are two reading Schools for Children in the Parish. There are no Almshouses, Hospital, or other Charitable Endowment. There was a Collection of Books left by one of Sir Wilmot Prideaux's Ancesters, for the use of the Rector. These were removed by the late Sir John Prideaux's Order from the Parsonage house to his own, immediately after the Death of Mr Drake one of my Predecessors, who dyed in ye year 1729. Both my Predecessor Mr Gould <and I> made a demand upon ye late Sir John Prideaux for these Books, as I have also since spoke to the present Sir John Wilmot Prideaux; on the same Subject, but no restitution of them has been hitherto obtained. I must beg leave to refer your Lordship to my former Answers given to the late Bishop, Doctor Keppell, upon a similar Occason with this, for your further Satisfaction in this case.

  13. Charity: I have never heard that any Lands Tenements or other Benefactions have been left for any pious or charitable uses, excepting the above alluded to.

Priest's orders and institution: My Institution is dated November 9th 1757 & my Priest's Orders are dated September 25th, 1748.
Richd Blake Rector of Fairway near Honiton, Devon.
