Chanter 232A, 5

  1. Residence, curate and lecturer: I do reside personally upon my Cure, and in my Parsonage House. I have no Curate, nor Lecturer.

  2. Other benefices: I have another Benefice call'd Broad Nymet. It is a Rectory and a sine Cure (said to become such for want of Inhabitants) It is in the Diocese of Exeter, Arch Deaconry of Barnstaple, and Deanry of Chulmleigh.

  3. Divine service at other churches: I do not perform Divine Service at any Church besides mine own.

  4. Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is performed in my Church twice every Lord's Day with a Sermon in the morning, on all Saints Days, & Wednesdays & Fridays in Lent.

  5. Frequency of communion: The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is administered eight times in a year - About one Hundred & fifty Communicants.

  6. Catechising of children: I catechise the youth of my Parish from Trinity Sunday, till the whole Parish is gone thro'.

  7. Church fabric: The Church and Chancel is in good Repair, and the Church Yard well kept, and we have all Things decent for Divine Service.

  8. Glebe terrier: There is a Terrier of the Glebe Lands, Houses &c in your Lordship's office.

  9. Number of families: We have about one Hundred & thirty Families in our Parish.

  10. Chapels: We have two Chapels said to belong formerly to Gentleman's Houses, now in the Hands of Tenants and in Ruins.

  11. Papists, dissenters and meeting houses: We have not one reputed Papist, nor Dissenter of any Denomination in our Parish.

  12. School, alms-houses, hospital and charitable endowments: We have two private Schools where Children are taught to read & write. We have one Alms House, which we call the Church house in which some Poor live: We have no Hospital nor Parochial Library.

  13. Charity: We have some Lands & Tenements given (as I have heard) for ornaments to the Church & Relief of some Poor who have no Pay from the Parish. The Church Warden & Parishioners apply these Benefactions to the Payment of yir Xch Rates [i.e. their church rates] but whether this be duly to apply them I cannot say - I think it is not.

    My Institution to Chawleigh is dated November 4. 1743.
    My Priest's Orders are dated September 24. 1732
    My Collation to Broad-Nymet is dated September 13 1739
