To the Revd the Minister of Beaford

Chanter 232A, 84

  1. Residence, curate and lecturer: My Lord,
I do not reside personally upon my Cure; I reside at Clannaborough. I have a curate, whose name is Samuel May, and I allow him thirty five guineas per annum for his Salary. I have no Lecturer.

  2. Other benefices: I have another Benefice called Clannaborough, near Crediton.

  3. Divine service at other churches: Mr May doth not perform Divine Service at any other Church besides.

  4. Frequency of divine service: Divine Service is performed in my Church twice on the Lord's Day with a Sermon in the morning and afternoon.

  5. Frequency of communion: The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is administered four times in the year; and there are about thirty communicants.

  6. Catechising of children: The youth of this Parish are usually catechized in the Summer time.

  7. Church fabric: The church and chancel are in pretty good Repair, and the Churchyard tolerably well kept. All things are decent for Divine Service.

  8. Glebe terrier: I have seen an old imperfect Terrier of the Glebe Lands and Houses. I will endeavour to get a new one made and delivered in properly signed at the visitation.

  9. Number of families: I have in my Parish about fifty Families.

  10. Chapels: There is within this Parish no publick Chapel: But a private chapel there anciently was belonging to the Family of the Acklands, where, when any of the Family resided at it, Divine Service has been performed.

  11. Papists, dissenters and meeting houses: I have no reputed Papist in my Parish, nor any meeting House for Dissenters of any Denomination.

  12. School, alms-houses, hospital and charitable endowments: I have no publick or charity School in my Parish; nor any Alm's House, Hospital or charitable endowment nor any parochial Library. But it may be proper to take notice that a small Tenement of about three Pounds a year has been left to the clerkship of this parish which the present clerk now enjoys.

  13. Charity: No Lands, Tenements, or other Benefactions have been left for any pious or charitable uses.

Priest's orders and institution: I was Instituted June the 27 1748
    Ordained a Priest December the 22 1734
