Chanter 225A, 23-24

  1. Population and dissenters: I have seventy Families within my Parish. Two of them only are Dissenters of the Presbyterian Denomination: and one Quaker. There is no licensed or other Meeting-House of Dissenters within the Parish.

  2. Public or charity schools: There is no Publick or Charity School endow’d or otherwise maintaind within the Parish. Only six Poor Children are annually taught to read at the Expence of the Parishoners, & are afterwards instructed in the Principles of the Christian Religion according to ye Doctrin of the Church of England.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: There is no Alms-House &c within the Parish. Neither have any Lands &c been left for the Repair of the Church, or other pious use.

  4. Residence upon cure: I reside personally upon my Cure: But have no Parsonage House nor Glebe.

  5. Curate: I have no Curate.

  6. Divine service at other churches: Yes. At the Church of Combpyne, once in the Day during the sequestration & until Lady next by an agreement with Mr. Paul, if it shall be approv’d of by your Lordship.

  7. Frequency of divine service: On all Holy Days generally thro’out the year: On all Days of Publick Humiliation & Thanksgiving appointed by autority & twice Every Lord’s Day with a sermon in the Morning.

  8. Frequency of communion: Four Times in the year.

  9. Number of communicants: Forty nine. Most of them usually receive. Thirty eight of them Communicated at Easter last, as near as I can recollect.

  10. Catechising of children: The Children are Catechiz’d in the Church every Sunday after the second Lesson at Evening Prayer from the Feast of All-Saints to that of the Purification & the Parishoners generally send their Children & some their Servts to be examined & instructed by me.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: There is a private Chapel belonging to the Family at Ash.
