  1. Population and dissenters: About fifty four families. No Dissenters.

  2. Public or charity schools: No publick School.

  3. Alms-house, hospital or charitable endowment: No Alms-house or Hospital.

  4. Residence upon cure: Dr Creed the Rector of Ashcombe resides at Buckland Monochorum, as he is Vicar of that Parish.

  5. Curate: His Name is Wilkins, & lives at Chudleigh, two miles & half from Ashcombe, a liberty granted him on the account of his School there; & having a wife <&> seven Children he hopes your Lordship will <be> as Indulgent to him as your Predecessors for twenty years past have been. He is allowed twenty five pounds per annum.

  6. Divine service at other churches: Never, unless occasionally to serve a Neighbour.

  7. Frequency of divine service: Constantly on Sundays, with preaching both parts of the day. Attendance is also given on all such Holy-days, as there is any hopes of having a Congregation. Particularly ye 11th of June, 30th of Jan. 27 of May, & all such days of Thanksgiving or Fasting as are at any time commanded to be observed.

  8. Frequency of communion: Five times, Easter-day & the Sunday before it. Whitesunday, first Sunday after Michaelmas, and on Christmas day.

  9. Number of communicants: There are about seventy communicants in the parish. About fifty received last Easter. Twenty or thereabouts is the usual number at other times.

  10. Catechising of children: The Children are Catechized in the Summer season; usually soon after Whitsuntide.

  11. Chapels or chapels in ruins: No Chapel.
